David Hockney Inspired Collage

This is the "Teardrop" in Bayonne. It is a memorial for all the victims of 9/11. I love the way this came out. I think the darkness of the sky really sets the mood and makes the memorial stand out.

This is my Grandpa. I decided to use him as my model because age makes the photo more interesting, and because he is my grandpa. haha. I love him. <3 I am alittle disappointed with the color. He is darker in some spots than others; but overall, I like it.

  1. From an aesthetic standpoint, this is not your conventional visually pleasing photograph. There is something more complex between how you choose to repeat shapes and forms. The distortion around the edges of the statue. The view is majestic, the weather and flag cooperating with you, they co-extist for this moment, each doing their necessary job. It's an odd contest of sorts to make all the distortion and visual asymmetry right.
